Erica Summerlin has been dancing for more than 20 years. In addition to being an accomplished dancer, Erica has been credited with numerous awards for her innovative and cutting edge choreography during her 5 years of teaching. As a young teen, she was chosen to be in the prestigious North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE) directed by Gene Medler and reveled in the opportunity to be taught by Savion Glover, Brenda Buffalino, Diane Walker, Mike Minnery, and many other renowned tappers. While still a young teen, she performed in The Chicago Human Rhythm Project and JUBA - a special tap documentary that still airs on PBS every year. She was chosen to perform in "Evening of Tap" choreographed by Brenda Buffalino at the Town Center in New York City and many state and local events in her home state of North Carolina, including choreographing the tap number for the North Carolina Governor's Education Ball in 2005. She was a member of the UNCC Dance Team and won the National Title in 2001. Erica is proud to be a role model for children and enjoys sharing her love and talent for dance with children of all ages.
